FBC Transition Update

First, we want to acknowledge and thank Pastor Jim Newell for his years of service at First Baptist Church, and we are praying for what He is doing in this new season of life.

We recognize that times of transition can bring uncertainty and raise many questions. It’s natural to feel a mix of emotions as we step into this new season together. As First Baptist Church begins this time without a lead pastor, the board officers—Brian Light, Bob Becerril, and Bob Gallina—will be working thoughtfully with the board to invite key lay leaders into an ad-hoc leadership team. This team will help guide and support the church’s core ministries, ensuring that our mission and ministry continue with care and stability during this time of transition.

Corey Joslin and Evelyn Startsman will continue to serve in their respective roles. Bob Gallina will coordinate Sunday morning worship services, supported by Elayne White and Eric Becerril. Dorothy White will continue to oversee Kids Zone, and Rachel Becceril will continue to oversee the church nursery. Corey Joslin will continue to provide leadership of the youth ministry and church operations.

Please contact Corey or one of your board officers with any questions or concerns. As the interim leadership structure continues to take shape, we will share regular updates with the congregation. The church family will be asked for input at key decision points (i.e., forming a pastor search committee).

Thank you for your ongoing prayers and support as we walk together in faith and unity.
