Our Story

How it all started...

First Baptist Church San Bernardino was founded in 1866. After several location changes, FBC landed at it's current location in 1993, after merging with Collegedale Baptist. FBC, which had been nonaffiliated, became a Southern Baptist Church in 2012 and enjoys a strong working relationship with many of the churches in the area.  FBC shares our campus with several “Partners in Ministry,” including Romanian and Hispanic congregations. And most recently, The Branch Church

Since 1993, the church has partnered with Cal State San Bernardino, Chaffey College, YMCA, the Red Cross, San Bernardino City Mission, Pregnancy Family & Resource Center, San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters and other churches to meet the spiritual and physical needs of those in need.

Expanding the vision...

Our desire is to welcome the community with open arms. To train an army of people who are passionate about living out God’s purpose for their lives. And to then give that army an outlet for sharing the love of Christ through outreach and missions.

“Therefore go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you, always, to the end of the age.” -Matthew 28:19-20 NIV

Where we are headed...

As we seek to give glory to God in obeying the Great Commission by the power of the Spirit, we are excited about the future. We want to see the City of San Bernardino saturated with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through outward focused ministry reaching into our neighborhoods and beyond  We are also very aware of the devastating effects of  rampant drug use, poverty and homelessness rates in our community, and we want to be a source of hope and healing in the name of Jesus Christ.
